Important information for property owners renting out their property
Are you aware of the regulations concerning water and sewage, waste management, and property maintenance when renting out your property? As the property owner, you are ultimately responsible.
If you are renting out your property, it is important to understand the rules that apply to water and sewage (VA), waste management, and property upkeep. As the owner, you are responsible for ensuring the property is properly maintained and that invoices are paid on time.
Water and sewage billing when renting out
If we receive indications that a property is being rented out without notification, water consumption will be billed according to a standard estimate – an annual usage equivalent to 350 cubic meters of water.
To ensure correct billing, you can report the number of residents through the municipality’s e-services.
Waste management
- Incorrectly sorted waste may result in sorting fees.
- After collection, waste bins must be pulled back onto the property. It is not permitted to leave the bins by the roadside except on collection day.
- Waste is collected every four weeks.
- The maximum allowed bin sizes are 180 liters or 240 liters. If this is not sufficient, you can apply for an extra bin through the municipality’s e-services.
Property maintenance
The property owner is responsible for ensuring that the property is maintained and that disturbances to neighbors are avoided.
If nearby residents have complaints regarding the property, they may report this to the Environmental and Building Committee, which may conduct an inspection following repeated complaints.
