Free bus travel for school students in Norrbotten this summer
This summer, school students in Norrbotten will have the opportunity to travel for free by bus throughout the county. The initiative applies during the summer holidays and includes both regional and local public transport.
The offer is aimed at children and young people of school age and is intended to increase access to leisure activities, summer jobs, and social interactions during the holidays. By removing the cost of travel, more young people are given the opportunity to move freely around the county.
The free travel applies to buses operated by Länstrafiken Norrbotten as well as local public transport in several municipalities in the county, including Boden. The initiative runs for most of the summer holidays, from mid-June to August.

Similar initiatives have previously been carried out in individual municipalities, where free bus travel has been described as a way to reduce inequalities among young people and create greater freedom in everyday life.
For Boden, the initiative means that more young people will have easier access to activities both within the municipality and to other parts of the county—without having to worry about travel costs.
