About the programme
The IB Diploma Programme is a two-year international education for students who want a broad and challenging upper secondary education recognised all over the world. You choose subjects from six different groups. The programme also includes Theory of Knowledge (TOK), an independent research project (Extended Essay), and activities within Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS).

Subjects and course structure
You choose six subjects, at least one from each group:
- Language and literature
- Modern languages
- Individuals and societies
- Natural sciences
- Mathematics
- Arts or creativity
You also decide which subjects to study at Higher Level (HL) and which at Standard Level (SL). In addition, you complete the core components: Theory of Knowledge (TOK), Extended Essay (EE), and CAS.
Projects and core components
- Theory of Knowledge (TOK): A course where you reflect on what knowledge is and how we understand the world.
- Extended Essay (EE): An independent research essay in a subject of your choice.
- CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service): Creative, physical, and community-based projects.
These components are mandatory and central to the IB Diploma.
Opportunities after the programme
With an IB Diploma, you can apply to universities worldwide. The IB is recognised in Sweden as a higher education preparatory programme. It provides a strong foundation for studies in technology, natural sciences, humanities, and international education.
Eligibility and application
To apply, you need good grades from compulsory school. Since the programme is taught in English, good language skills are also required.
